Dom = Alpha -> powerful, controlling, inate need to DOMinate the sub. Some doms are marshmallows, some are yanderes. Flavors vary. Being a Dom just means that during "play," a dom/subs version of heat/rut (no loss of control, no pheromones, but subs can enter Sub space or Sub drop), they give commands to the Sub to follow. Can be as simple as sit...or super sadistic. Subs can use their safewords.
Sub = Omega (No MPreg unless it's a special type of Dom/Sub manga) -> follows a Dom's commands and when praised, feels good. When they trust their Dom enough, they enter what is called Sub space which...they essentially get high. There is no other way to put it. They get high as kites. Jealous AF. Conversely, if a Dom scares them, they can enter Sub drop which is where they essentially have a bad acid trip and need a trusted Dom to use commands to build to serotonin back up so they break out of it.
If Doms and Subs do not engage in play, they can become critically ill.
